The idea
Grow something new from what is already here.
Ward 20 brings new life to a former hospital ward at the heart of Hospitalshaven. Its 20 single rooms are offices for creative people, the ward hallway and main room are our art gallery, and the café connects the house to the terrace and the new park.
Building 20 is approximately 650 m² on one level, with direct access to a terrace and the newly landscaped park. It once held private patient rooms and later a cardiac outpatient clinic, a layout of smaller rooms that suits creative work particularly well.
Ward 20 is open to everyone, not just the people who work here. On the first Saturday of every month our artists open their rooms for the Arts Open House, and croquis classes, theatre, workshops, Tai Chi and seasonal events bring Frederiksberg and the wider Copenhagen community inside.
Outside, our creative engineers are building solar-powered seating with free Wi-Fi and device charging, so the café and garden are a good place to work away from home. All areas of Ward 20 will be accessible for wheelchair users.
